Metro Gare Centrale: volledige renovatie tegen 2027

The Gare Centrale metro station in Brussels will undergo a total renovation by 2027, with work starting in 2022. This ambitious project aims to modernize one of STIB's oldest stations, inaugurated in 1969. Improvements will include renovated spaces, better accessibility for people with reduced mobility, and a complete overhaul of the interior to make it brighter and more functional.

Uitbreiding en modernisering: Centraal Station

The current project involves the expansion of the station, with a 3,500 m² extension under rue Ravenstein and another underway on rue du Cardinal Mercier. The total surface area will be considerably increased: level -1 will rise from 1,600 to 3,500 m², and level -2 from 2,500 to 4,300 m². Access will be redesigned to include more elevators and escalators, while adding new services such as shops and artworks. During the works, the station will remain open, with only a few temporary closures to ensure user safety.
