Quartier Européen Bruxelles - a vision of harmonious balance

Transformation and diversification of the European Quarter

The vision for the European Quarter of Brussels was approved by the Government in May 2022. This vision aims to make the district more diversified by combining office space for companies and institutions with easier access to housing, green and public spaces, as well as numerous shops. Greening and reducing the carbon footprint will be important aspects of future developments, to ensure a better quality of life for the entire Quartier Européen, whether for offices, residents or the many retailers.

Sustainable, eco-responsible landscaping

Two key documents were approved on July 6, 2023. An ambitious set of local specifications for the European Quarter sets out concrete recommendations and guidelines, such as the conversion of vacant offices into housing and the temporary occupation of unoccupied office space and meeting rooms. It also advocates the creation of passageways between first floors and public spaces. These sustainable and ecological recommendations encourage the development of new local shops and services, the limitation of traffic, the greening of public spaces, and the sharing of underground parking. Everything is done to improve the quality of life and use of the Quartier Européen.
