The Walloon Government: Reform of registration and fiscal duties

Reduced registration fees: real estate

From January 1, 2025, the Walloon government plans to reduce registration fees to 3% for the purchase of a single-family home. This measure aims to make home ownership more affordable for young people, by aligning the rate with that already in force in Flanders. This reform will replace existing reductions, allowances and benefits, including the housing voucher.

Tax benefits for energy and renovation

At the same time, to meet European and regional climate requirements, the Walloon government is committed to improving the quality of housing. It plans to introduce tax incentives to encourage renovation work aimed at improving the energy performance, safety and healthiness of buildings.
